On the way south you find the different spas and ecotourism centers among which are El Palmar, Acapulquito, Ramonal, Los Reyes, Álvaro Obregón Viejo, Cacao, Cocoyol and of course, in the end, La Unión.
Rio Hondo is located 240 km from Mahahual. (according to Google Maps, approximately 3 hours and 48 minutes away) so we will bring clothes to spend there for at least 2 nights; 1 would not be enough to enjoy.
Before hitting the road, remember to fill up with gas at the only station we have in the region, and along the way, I buy a soft drink and snack for the road.
From Mahahual we leave along the El Cafetal-Mahahual highway until we come across the Cancún-Chetumal highway. With caution, we turn left and enjoy the path.

To get to the junction you must leave Chetumal taking highway 186 Chetumal-Villahermosa. When you reach the intersection bridge, take the exit “Escárcega/Campeche” and continue on 186 for approximately 25 km until you reach the community of Ucum.
From Ucum, take the detour to the left on the Ucum-La Unión highway. After following that route for approximately 88 km they should be arriving at the border community of La Unión.
